At the heart of IgboAmaka Scotland are values deeply rooted in Igbo tradition and culture:

Our Values

Communalism

We believe in the power of community and collective action, working together to support one another, embodying the value of "onye aghala nwanne ya" (do not leave your sibling behind).

Cultural Preservation

Our commitment to promoting Igbo culture is reflected in the celebration of traditional events such as the Iri Ji (New Yam Festival), as well as the teaching of Igbo language, arts, and customs to younger generations.

Egalitarianism

We uphold the principle of equality within our community, where everyone has a voice, and leadership is based on respect for all.

Education and Empowerment

Through our educational programs, including language classes, STEM workshops, and civic education, we aim to empower our community members, particularly the younger generation, with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed.
